Wi-Fi Network Preference Ordering on Fedora23?

0 votes
290 views

I have Fedora 23 and am using the default Gnome 3 desktop environment.

I have two wi-fi networks within reach of my laptop and Fedora always auto-joins with the network with a weaker signal. I believe it is choosing to do so because the weaker signal is the one I first provided a password for months ago.

I have not been able to determine a way to set the wi-fi network auto-join order preference. Is it possible to change the preference order?

I don't know how to set a priority, but what I do is I allow it to automatically connect only to the ones I want for normal use (the one at my office, my WAP at home). There are others in the list, but if I want to use one of 'em I'll click on it in the NM display to cause my system to connect to it.

This keeps my preferred access points on auto and everything else I get to choose if I want.

I would like to know how long the Wi-Fi is up and when and how long it is offline.

Using Wi-Fi direct, I've been able to connect two devices together and pass messages between them. However, when I try to have a third device connect to this group, the WFD connection between the first and second devices either drops, or the third device seems to be ignored.
I haven't been able to find anything specific about one-to-many connections in the documentation. Do they need to be handled in a special way?
