What the CT timer is in LTE?

Please explain what is CT timer and its usage. Any example would be a great help.

CT Timer is a Short DRX Cycle Timer which indicates the number of initial DRX cycles to follow the short DRX cycle before moving to the long DRX cycle. It is expressed in terms of short DRX cycle.

Short DRX cycle: It is the first DRX cycle to be followed after enabling DRX.
