Bring up the "System Settings" GUI.

Got to "Common Appearance and Behavior" --> Locale --> Country/Region.

Go to "Date & Time" tab and select the HH:MM:SS Time format.

Sound Icon in System Tray missing, in Fedora-18/KDE

Fedora: KDE Appearance "Updates are Available"?

I have been using Fedora since 2002....and at NO POINT have I ever installed anything even remotely related to KDE.

Fast forward to today, I get the usual notifications that "Updates Are Available"...through the Gnome notifications atop the screen midship....and I proceed to authorize them and install them. Now...Im one of those uptight people who like to "watch" things as they get installed...and I started seeing things like:kf5-kbookmarkskf5-kdedkemoticons....and a slew of other "K" related things.

Is this something to be expected from future updates?....and how do I get rid of these?

desktop file location on fedora

I am running scientific linux 6.3 with kde 4.3.4 and my problem is that for some reason or other, i have now killed off the desktop by accidentally clicking the "x" that appears in the 'sidebar' [which may not be proper name] that pops out to right of desktop.

I searched through files that i thought would be associated with desktop without finding something related to 'sidebar'.

Only way I have found to restore 'sidebar' is by renaming my user name and creating user again, then copying files over from a backup.

I ran a search of internet with "ixquick", but found nothing related directly to such.

How to get rid of the clock lock screen on fedora

I upgraded several laptops and machines to F19. On all of them except one laptop, when waking up the desktop is blocked by a clock screen, that needs to be rolled out of the way.

One laptop consistently wakes up directly into the desktop.

I compared all the configuration settings I can think of, and everything seems to be the same but I'd like to fix all the other machines so that they go directly into the desktop, without having to deal with the clock screen.

Why after installation of fedora 20, I can only log 1 time as a su?

After a fresh installation of fedora 20, I can only log 1 time as a su.
After, it is refused for authentification error!
