Please post the incantation necessary to remove the nouveau driver in Fedora 19. I'd really like to install the driver directly from Nvidia, instead of from rpmfusion.

You have to recompile your kernel with nouveau switched it off in your kernel .config (CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU). As far as I know, you could also blacklist the nouveau driver and recreate your initramfs (dracut -f).

Just for kicks, I decided to play a bit with Fedora 23 beta. Yes, I know it's not supposed to work like a production distro, but I thought it would be fun to poke around on it a little. I sorta need to install a couple of packages from rpmfusion, though. Unfortunately, they don't have a Fedora 23 setup out yet.

I tried to install the Fedora 22 repositories, but it didn't work.

I get the error:
Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'rpmfusion-free' from 'http://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/mirrorlist?repo=free-fedora-23&arch=x86_64':
Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: No URLs in mirrorlist, disabling.

So, how would I go about, say, installing mplayer in Fedora 23 beta?

I am currently running F17. As it is nearing end of life, I am anxious to upgrade. Around kernel 3.7, I started to experience very heavy graphics slowdown and corruption. I reported a bug around the time I experienced it . Because F17 has a version of the 3.6 kernel, I can continue using the desktop without interruption.

In preparations for upgrading I tested out F19 Beta, Alpha, and final live CD. All versions show the same bug, creating an unusable desktop.

At this point I am stuck between F19 which has corrupted graphics; unusable desktop and F17 which is EOL and will not receive security updates (not to mentioned outdated).

Any thoughts on what to do?

I would like to be able to copy-paste text without transferring the format. Im using F19 with KDE.

Currently, when I copy-paste (between Firefox, LibreOffice, etc), formatting like font, font size and font attributes get also copied and pasted. But I am looking for a way to copy-paste such that the format of the original text is discarded and instead the format of the target document is used, as if I had typed the text on the keyboard.

I've just installed Fedora 18 X86-64. I disabled and uninstalled networkmanager and use the standard networking stuff which seems to use dhclient. I'm using a standard ethernet connection.

So I need to do two things. Feel free to tell me to RTFM if you can provide a link!

1.How do I enable pre-pending of nameservers? I want to use dnsmasq to cache DNS requests so I need to add 127.0.0.1 to the top of resolv.conf. Google searchs take me to the Arch Wiki. I can't seem to
find a dhclient.conf file anywhere in /etc.

2.How do I assign a zone in firewalld to my connection? I want to be able to open ports for bittorrent and XMPP jingle voice/video. The firewalld wiki on the Fedora site doesn't seem to be able to answer my
question.
