What could be possible reason for soft handover failure in UMTS.

1. Poor Coverage (DL / UL)
2. Pilot Pollution / Pilot Spillover
3. Missing Neighbor
4. SC Collisions
5. Delayed Handovers
6. No resource availability (Congestion) for Hand in
7. Loss of Synchronization
8. Fast Fading
9. Delayed IRAT Triggers
10. Hardware Issues
11. External Interference

Probably know the part of answer, but not completely so thought to ask here i.e. What is the advantages and disadvantages of soft handover from UE and from operator perspective.

I have worked in LTE technology and observed the data rate through LTE network. We know , LTE deployment is on going and it will take few years to roll out completely in India. When a LTE UE attaches to network and handover to UMTS due to mobility then is there any change in data rate ? If yes, then how this change is communicated to UE. I mean to say what signalling messages exchange in network ?

Can there be inter PDN handover in LTE or UMTS if yes then please explain the procedure.
