installiing joomla on fedora

I'm trying to set up Joomla on my laptop to play around with a site I'm planning. However SELinux seems to block write access for the installation routine to the direcotry /var/www/html and none of the solutions I've found by googling to allow SELinux httpd write access seems to work (installation hangs immediately).

setenforce 0 deosn't have any effect either as far as I can tell, as I still can't install Joomla. Anyone successfully installed Joomla 3 on Fedora 19 please can tell how I should proceed?

Did you gave write, and read access to user?
Its a default installation of AMP on Fedora. So the user you are refering to is? Apache?

I used Drupal for years for building sites and testing before moving to Rails, and to a tee, all the problems on localhost are permissions and ownership based. SEL will complain and give you the correction it requires to fix the SEL problem.

It may be that /var/www/html has root ownership and closed permissions. On my local machine I have to chmod 776 the /var/www/html folder then check the permissions so that chown is, for instance, apache:my_user in /html folder, for ubuntu it's /var/www/www-data that needs the permissions and ownership changed. do the install then check.

I have not found Joomla suitable, It's easy to use but very limited.

I have added a new service which starts a second httpd instance in fedora 19. The pid of the process is stored in /run/http-xxx directory, and my problem is that this directory disappears after each reboot.

How can I stop the system from deleting this folder in /run?

I'm having trouble starting transmission-daemon. When I try to start it with systemctl, it hangs:

 # systemctl start transmission-daemon.service

If I let it be for a few minutes (~5), it finishes with a failure. The log is extremely unhelpful. This is very strange because it was working just fine until a few days ago.

I have been having trouble with my Cinnamon desktop on Fedora 19. The panel is not loading, and it seems like the wallpaper is also not loading, although because I run 2 gdesklets, the proper background can be seen on them. The rest of the screen is black except for the desktop icons. Once in a while if I logon to Cinnamon 3 or 4 times in a row the desktop will come up properly but other times it refuses to load properly. I also run Mate and XFCE desktops and I am wondering whether there is a conflict somewhere.

Any Suggestions or Pointer...

Booted machine from livecd image, and the gnome3 worked.

Used Fedup to upgrade an Fedora 18 setup to Fedor 19, and gnome3 doesn't work (Opps screen), but KDE and Xfce does.

Did a clean install from the DVD image of Fedora 19 to a new hard disk, and gnome3 doesn't work, kde regular doesn't work, kde failsafe works, and xfce works.

The machine has a nvidia geforce FX 5200 card, which I know is old, but that is what my classroom has in all 20 machines. So, not just a matter of getting a different card. Long ago was using the nvidia driver from there site, but they dropped support for the older cards, so had to switch to the nouvea driver.

Any suggestions, or just have to stick with xfce..
