yum error (grub does not update) while installing kernel

Of late (since later days of F18), I have been getting the following error whenever a new kernel gets installed: /boot/grub2/grub.cfg does not get updated and has to be "fixed" manually using

sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Is there any way to fix this problem? The only error I get appears to be unrelated (or is it?) but consistent
(everytime I install a new kernel):

%yum update
....
Installing: kernel-3.9.9-301.fc19.x86_64
23/45
......

Cleanup :

libipa_hbac-1.10.0-12.fc19.beta2.x86_64 45/45
dracut-install: ERROR: installing '/usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts/True.*'
E: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D /var/tmp/initramfs.xo7Lmm /usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts/True.*

I searched on the error message DDG as well as Google but got absolutely nothing. (I searched on E: /usr/lib/dracut/dracut-install -D)

I installed Fedora 19 on my laptop, and it worked beautifully with the already installed Windows 8. When I upgraded the Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Now it boots straight to Windows 8.1 and grub does not appear.

I disabled secure boot in the firmware.

I do not even know which version of grub was booting the UEFI system before; it just worked.

Can anyone suggest:

  1. What grub would the Fedora 19 installer have provided to boot it and Windows 8? (grub2, grub-efi,...)
  2. Can anyone point to any documentation on how to fix this?

Why system-config-lvm disappeared since fedora 18? Is there a reason?

We are developing internal software using MySql dB and are planning to use Fedora for the server.

The question is how do we know that this hardware (motherboard, CPU) really support Fedora version 18 or 19? We are looking at mobo from Asus or Intel or Gigabyte, but did not find firm answer. We did not find the info from mobo websites either.

The mobo that got our interest are the ones with H77 or Z77 or H87 chipsets.

Is there any URL for me to get the information we need?

Since I am using the MATE desktop, I have yet to find the package that recategorized the desktop menus such as Electronics, Games, and so on.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
