What is SRM?

Supplier relationship management (SRM) is the discipline of strategically planning for, and managing, all interactions with third party organizations that supply goods and/or services to an organization in order to maximize the value of those interactions.

Supplier relationship management is a comprehensive approach to managing an enterprise's interactions with the organizations that supply the goods and services it uses.

The efficient processes in SAP SRM enable you to cut down your procurement expenses and to work more intensively with more suppliers than ever before.

SRM includes both business practices and software and is part of the information flow component of supply chain management (SCM).

SRM practices create a common frame of reference to enable effective communication between an enterprise and suppliers who may use quite different business practices and terminology.

What is ABAP?

ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming, originally Allgemeiner Berichts-Aufbereitungs-Prozessor, German for "general report creation processor") is a high-level programming language created by the German software company SAP.

It is an object-oriented programming language used to develop applications for the SAP R/3 system, but was originally used for SAP R/2. It was developed by the German company SAP AG.

ABAP is the primary language in which most SAP software including customizations are written. It would do it injustice to think of it as COBOL and SQL on steroids, but that gives you an idea. ABAP runs within the SAP system.

SAP and ABAP abstract the DB and run atop various underlying DBMSs.

Crystal Reports is a popular Windows-based report writer (report generation program) that allows a programmer to create reports from a variety of data sources with a minimum of written code. Developed by Seagate Software, Crystal Reports can access data from most widely-used databases and can integrate data from multiple databases within one report using Open Database Connectivity ( ODBC ).

Crystal Reports uses an ActiveX control called CrystalReport to establish a connection with another program. A programmer can set properties of the CrystalReport control during design time or at run time.
